Deacon and Elder Ministry
🔎 Covenant is actively seeking to grow the number of godly, qualified men serving in leadership roles as elders and deacons within our church. These positions are vital to shepherding and serving the congregation, and we desire to raise up faithful men who meet the biblical standards for these offices. If you know of a man—or if you yourself feel called and qualified—we encourage you to learn more about these roles or fill out the form below to begin the process.
— Deacons (“servants” in the Greek) will serve the church by using their gifts and abilities to meet tangible physical and spiritual needs within the church (from taking care of buildings and grounds to visiting those that aren’t able to get out and be with us on Sundays). The qualifications to serve as a Deacon are listed in 1 Timothy 3:8-13.
— Elders (also called “overseers” or “pastors” in the Bible) are responsible to “shepherd” the church body, providing spiritual oversight of the ministry, teaching, & working to strengthen and protect the spiritual health of our church family. The qualifications to serve as an Elder are found in 1 Timothy 3:1-7.
ℹ️ If you know of some men that meet the biblical qualifications and would be a blessing to the church by serving as a Deacon or Elder, we’d love to have your recommendations. As not all who are recommended will be asked to serve, we’d ask that you keep your recommendations between yourself and the Lord, and trust the process as we (our current Elders) prayerfully consider who to move forward with. Please let us know who you are, who you’re recommending for our consideration for either office, and a little explanation of what you see in them that makes you want to recommend them. âś… If you would like to nominate more than one person, please fill out one form per nominee.
